Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) Provision and Educating at Home Research Project
8th February 2021
RPCF (Rotherham Parent Carers Forum) are seeking to evidence the voice and experience of families as a key element in developing SEMH provision, as well as providing a wider understanding of the impact on children and young people educated at home in Rotherham. Through this research project all views shared will be anonymised & collated to share with partners to inform service development and future commissioning.
Whilst we continue to work with partners to ensure family voice is central in developing the new SEMH provision at Dinnington, RPCF identified the need for robust research of lived experience across all SEMH provision to inform further developments and commissioning through the SEMH Board and SEND (special educational needs) strategic Board.
SEMH needs may be stand alone and can also include a diagnosis of Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), attachment issues, a diagnosed mental illness such as depression, self-harm, substance misuse, eating disorders or anxiety and includes mental health issues experienced by young people with autism spectrum conditions.
Following on from the new free school consultation we are asking you to contribute further here to enable us to provide the clearest picture possible of current lived experience. This focussed piece of work from Jan to March 2021 seeks to identify "What is important to You?" across different elements of provision to ensure that the Voice and experience of children, young people and parent carers are represented and included in findings presented to partners and senior leaders. This will also inform RPCF of priorities and ongoing work in partnership for better outcomes.
Please click on the link below to access the consultation. Young people can also access a consultation through this same link by indicating parent or young person in the first question.
The consultation will run until the 19th February 2021

Further elements of gathering experience will include focus groups and one to one communications. Should anyone have difficulty accessing or would prefer a different way of communicating please call us on 01709 296262 or email sarah@rpcf.co.uk with your views or contact details.
As always, thank you for contributing your lived experience for better outcomes for all families living with SEND in Rotherham.
