RPCF launches new counselling service
8th January 2021
Rotherham Parent Carer Forum Children and Young Person Counselling Service
We are pleased to offer an online counselling service to children and young people (11-17 year olds) with SEND and their siblings. We believe it’s important for children and young people to have a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings.
The funding we have received is to do short-term work, between January and March, with children and young people during in COVID-19 to help navigate some of the confusion, isolation and anxiety they may be feeling in relation to COVID-19, restrictions and returning to school.
We can offer approximately 6 sessions of counselling to children and young people that want to access it. While some children and young people will prefer to talk, we appreciate others may find this difficult and prefer a more creative approach to enable them to express themselves. Working creatively helps some clients see their problems from different angles and find different solutions. We work with the child and young person to find the way which works best for them.
To access the counselling service the child or young person has to live in Rotherham. If your child or young person would like to access counselling, please complete the initial counselling referral form and Nanette, our lead child and young person counsellor, will be in touch to complete the referral process.
