Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) is a new national programme that aims to support the education and health needs of neurodiverse children in schools through partnership approach working with local authorities and parent carer forums RPCF.
This PINS project will be piloted to support a maximum of 40 mainstream primary schools across South Yorkshire. Each area will have 10 schools, the local area has been responsible for choosing these schools, based on a formal selection process looking at need within different areas and within individual schools.
The chosen schools in Rotherham are - Aston Fence Junior & Infant School, Badsley Primary School, Blackburn Primary School, Broom Valley Community School, Meadowview primary school, Redscope Primary School, St Gerads Catholic Primary School, Wales Primary School, Wath Central Primary School and Wath Victoria Primary School
Neurodiversity describes the way in which no two brains are completely alike. We all process information and interact with the world differently. It can be used in the context of autism spectrum disorder, as well as other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning disabilities, to express the idea that there is no single 'right' way of thinking or learning.
PINS will bring health and education practitioners and parent carers from the forum into mainstream primary settings to:
Help shape whole school SEND provision.
Provide early interventions at a whole school level.
Upskill school staff.
Support strengthening of partnerships between schools and parent carers.
A Parent survey has been sent out via schools to gather the views and experiences of families to help shape the support each school will receive, the survey will be held by Rotherham parent carers forum (RPCF).
As part of the PINS programme RPCF will facilitate meet-ups within each school to allow a space for parents to come and share their experiences whilst also working with schools to shape change. The meet-ups aim to start during the first half of the Autumn term (Sep-Oct). Please keep an eye out on your schools preferred communication for more details.
