New Rotherham Threshold of Needs Document for SEND Children & Young People

New Threshold of Need Guidance Launched for Children and Young People with SEND in Rotherham
Families, schools, and education settings across Rotherham now have access to a new Threshold of Need document, designed to provide clear guidance on the support available for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in Rotherham.
The document has been developed by Rotherham Borough Council's SEND department in line with Department for Education guidance and outlines the support that should be in place and at what level, to ensure children and young people with SEND receive the help they need to thrive.
This new framework will help families, schools, and practitioners to:
- Understand the types of support available at different levels of need.
- Strengthen working together to provide the right help at the right time.
- Ensure consistency across education settings in Rotherham.
Cary-Anne Sykes, Service Lead for SEND, will be leading an informal information session to introduce the new Threshold of Need document and answer general questions about how it will support children, young people, and their families.
These sessions will be at:
- Rawmarsh Parent Carer Meet up - 29th September -09:30-11:30
- Canklow Dunelm Evening Meet-up - 2nd October - 17:30-19:00
- Online Evening Session - more details will follow
Please note: Cary-Anne will not be able to discuss individual cases during the session.
