Local area SEND inspection update from the director of children's service
29th October 2024
Following the Local area SEND inspection in September 2023, Nicola Curley, director of children's services, would like us to share the following update from RMBC. RPCF will continue to update members as we receive further updates. Thanks again on behalf of RPCF.
Dear Parent carers and families,
We are writing to you to update you following the recent SEND inspection which you may have been involved in.
Firstly, thank you so much for taking part in the inspection by completing the parent survey which formed an important part of the process.
It has been a long and rigorous inspection and we appreciate you all for taking part in the process.
While we are unable to share the formal proposed judgement until the inspection report is published at the end of November, we can share some initial findings with you.
Ofsted had significant contact with the Parent Carer Forum and most pleasingly, met a number of our young people and talked to several parents directly.
Ofsted found that the Parent Carer Forum is passionate and works well with all parts of the partnership, advocating for the voice of children and families with SEND across Rotherham. Inspectors found that the Nine Priorities gathered through your voice were well understood and were influencing the activity of staff across the partnership, and that the new SEND strategy takes full account of parent carer and children and young people’s views.
Thank you for your ongoing support and working with us to continuously improve provision for our children and young people and their families.
Nicola Curley
Director of Children’s Services
